Fourteenth race of the season: the hell of sand of Lommel welcomed the challenge of world championship under a summer sun worthy of the best holiday season in Southern Europe. The feared Lommel circuit, characterized by a deep sand that makes it unique in its kind, this time has put a strain on all the protagonists. In the MX2 class the news comes by the hands of Pauls Jonass, able to get twice second among the sand dunes Dutch but above all capable of grabbing an unexpected red plate as leader of the class. The Latvian rider led on his KTM SXF 250 Red Bull Factory supported by Athena - GET, the red plate that until now had been firmly in the hands of teammate Herlings, however, forced the surrender of an injury. Behind him third overall, it ranked Petar Petrov (Kawasaki KRT MX2), the Bulgarian who replaced the injured Dylan Ferrandis. Petrov took his KXF 250 equipped with the control unit GP1 Evo and the data acquisition system M40 in third place signing his first appearance in his career on the world podium. Race to forget for Valentin Guillod (Standing Construct Yamalube Yamaha) that due to some mistakes in race one and a technical problem in race 2 has lost ground against Jonass and Gajser. In the premier class, the MXGP, was Romain Febvre (Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube) to carry on the podium (third overall) his factory Yamaha 450 equipped with the control unit GP1 Evo and the data acquisition system M40. French ranked twice in third place, retaining the lead of the championship with a great advantage over most immediate pursuers. Of note, the absence of the riders of the Red Bull KTM Factory team MXGP, all forced to surrender due to various injuries.
The world championship motocross races will return in three weeks in Italy, in Mantova, where the weekend of august 22-23, will be held the fifteenth GP of the season.
