Ryan Villopoto, Kawasaki Monster Energy, dominates and win the 2012 season opener with a stronger showing like last season. He was in the lead from the holeshot to the end. 25 points earned by the Championship leader.
Second place for Chad Reed, Two Two Motorsport, and great third place for KTM rider Ryan Dungey (KTM’s first podium in the elite SX class in the USA).

James Stewart, JGRMX Yamaha, set the fastest lap in qualifying but in the main event started inside the top-10. By the third lap Stewart was in fourth and just before the halfway mark he had moved into a podium position in third with the second place rider just in front of him.  On lap 16 Stewart crashed partially tearing his radiator shroud off of his motorcycle.  He remounted, was able to pull the dangling shroud from his bike and salvage a sixth place finish.

Marvin Musquin with KTM SX-F 250 close with a great 4th place.  Dean Wilson with the other Kawasaki Pro Circuit go down during last lap and end up 6th.
